Official Statement
July 28, 2021

In regards to the events that took place today and the recent press release, Friends of Tulare Animal Services would like to issue the following statement:

We would like to assure everyone that when Friends of Tulare Animal Services became aware of the misappropriation of funds, we worked diligently and fully cooperated with the Tulare Police Department during their investigation. We will remain committed to ensuring that Bonnie Heasley is held accountable for her actions and we hope to be fully compensated for our considerable loss.

These were the actions of one individual. We still have a team fully committed to helping the shelter animals at Tulare Animal Services. We hope to continue our life-saving efforts with the full support of the community. Tulare Animal Services is STILL a NO KILL shelter. Limited funds did not prevent our team from transferring every healthy, adoptable pet out of the shelter to a rescue organization or adopted into a new home. We have an amazing team that includes the TAS staff, volunteers, transport drivers, and rescue organizations. We need the support now, more than ever, from our community to continue these efforts to assure every animal receives the care it needs and is placed into a new home. Thank you.
